Jesse D. Umstead

Jesse Dean Umstead, 51, of Fredonia, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh, with his family by his side. Jesse was born on October 3, 1968 in Grove City, PA to David Leroy and Shirley Jean (Perrine) Umstead. Jesse was a 1988 graduate of Lakeview High School. Following his graduation, he went on to be a mechanic. Jesse loved working on cars and engines of any kind. He also enjoyed demo derbys, hunting, fishing, canning and “junking”. Jesse was married to Tina Griffiths Umstead, she survives at home. In addition to his wife, Jesse is survived by his parents, David and Shirley Umstead, of Sandy Lake; his children: Hunter Umstead, of Fredonia, step-daughter, Jessica Ziegler and fiancé Dalton Pence, of Erie, daughter, Nicole Mosier, and her husband, Christian, of Scranton, daughter Jesse Umstead of Cambridge Springs; his grandchildren: Adara Miller, Brooklyn Jones, Haley Matvey, Cayden and Damian Mosier, and Myia and Jax Umstead.; his sister, Robin Sasse, and her husband, Frederick, of Sandy Lake; nieces, Jazmyne Shaffer, and her husband, Derek, of Spring Mills and Jaeda Sasse, of Slippery Rock; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Jesse was preceded in death by his grandparents Pearl and Ben Szeszko, father-in-law Harry Griffiths, and grandson Landon Rose. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home, 3236 S. Main Street, Sandy Lake, PA 16145 where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Chuck Mowry, officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jesse’s name to the Jesse Umstead Memorial Fund, PO Box 316, Sandy Lake, PA 16145.
