Karen Augustson Obituary

Karen S. Augustson, 66 of West Salem Twp, Greenville, passed away on June 29, 2020 at UPMC Jameson in New Castle. Karen was born in Columbus, OH on October 23, 1953 to the late Noel and Lena (Hall) Sexton. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School and worked as a homemaker and babysitter for many years. Karen enjoyed art and coloring, painting, and embroidering. She enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning with her dog, Buddy. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, and watching the butterflies and animals around her home. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Karen was Christian by faith and enjoyed watching the Central Community Church Live Stream Service. Most of all, Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Karen is survived by her children; Shawn Augustson and wife Melody of Columbus, OH, and Crystal Friedl and husband Brian of Greenville, grandchildren; Samantha Friedl and Brian Friedl Jr, and Drew, Luc, Tyler, and Rachel Augustson, sisters; Maggie Nelson and husband Kip, Carol Barbour and husband Bill, and Mary “Dolly” Trowbridge and husband Walter, as well as many nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 2, from 2-3 pm at the Central Community Church, 3571 N. Hermitage Road, Transfer, PA 16154. A Celebration of Life service will take place at the church at 3 pm following visitation with the Pastor Daniel Dennis, church pastor, officiating.
