Rita Maria Valentine

Rita Maria Valentine, 61 of Conneaut Lake, passed away on February 1, 2024 at her home. Rita was born on December 21, 1962 in Cumberland, MD, to the late Raymond Jr. & Veronica (Martin) Valentine. She was a 1980 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from PennWest Edinboro, and her Masters of Library Science from PennWest Clarion. She most recently was employed at Self Advocates United As One in Meadville.

Rita was a member of Our Lady Queen of Americas Roman Catholic Church, Conneaut Lake, where she was in the choir and a cantor. She enjoyed playing cards and reading. She had a beautiful smile, a great sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Denise Valentine of Conneaut Lake; Barbara (David) Vaughn of Conneaut Lake; Raymond (Rose) Valentine of Conneaut Lake; and Thomas (Michelle) Valentine of Frederick MD, very close cousin Timothy (Tammy) Martin of Cumberland, MD, nephews and nieces: Matthew (Dana) Edwards; James Valentine; Jordan Vaughn; Jennifer (Tara) Edwards; Samantha Vaughn; and Taylor Pickett-Valentine, several great nieces and nephews, uncle: Girard (Phyllis) Martin, and aunt: Mary Ann (James) Franciosi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt Mary Monica Martin, and uncle Gary Valentine.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd, Conneaut Lake, where visitation will be from 4 pm – 7 pm on Monday, February 5. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11:30 am Tuesday, February 6, with Fr. Jeff Lucas, officiating.

Interment will follow in Our Lady Queen of Americas Cemetery, Conneaut Lake.

Memorials in Rita’s name can be made to the Margaret Shontz Memorial Library or the Yolanda Barco Oncology Institute.
